University Final Project

I created these designs for young people who aren’t afraid to stand out in a crowd. The aim was to make a range of fabrics that would be used for co-ords, bodysuits, swimwear and gym wear.  These designs are not for any particular season, as they work well for festival season, summer holidays and all-year-round gym wear.  The collection is more about the person wearing it, than the season to wear it.

My fundamental inspiration was the person I was designing these for.  They are respectful of traditions and structure, but march to the beat of their own drum.  I interperatated this person by using the basic ideas of traditional Japanese block printing and combining it with organic, unplanned shapes and splatters of paint to create a wild, clean mess.  I went for bright and bold colour schemes which really enhanced the splatters.

The designs are a combination of digital drawings and hand paintings, which were finalised in Photoshop and Illustrator.

This fashion collection is versatile and unique with loads of attitude.
